George Masters GEORGE MASTERS - LIFETIME MEMBER, DAKOTA CRUISERS Many of you have read my profile a number of years ago, but I'm going to give you a new one that brings you up to date in the year 2000.I grew up in a family that had a lot of cars. My dad was a fanatic like I've turned out to be. He had 7 registered classics (classics now) when I was 14 years old. Those cars were Lincolns, Packards, Chryslers and even a Willys coupe! One, my favorite which I eventually bought, was a baby blue 56 Continental Mark II. Quite the car. I took my drivers license test in that car and also took it to the senior prom. My first car was a 1954 Chrysler Imperial .Towne Limosine.. Black with blue interior and had a 354 Hemi in it. Eventually that went away and I bought my first 55 Chevy. I had it painted Mack Truck Orange, kept it 12 years, and put over 200,000 miles on it. I paid $60 cash for it. Fell in love with Corvettes and in 1975 when I bought my first one. It was a 64 roadster. I always said that you get stung on your first Corvette if it is an old one, but I outgrew it and traded it for a 63 Split Window Coupe that I kept for 8 years and did my first frame-off restoration on. Many Corvettes later, I grew fond of the 55, 56, and 57 Chevys. I now have 5 of them which are pretty nice. Some are frame-off restored, however they all are respectable and fun to drive and have. I am currently working on a 55 Nomad that is proving to be a real challenge. It will be a frame-off and all done primarily stock looking with a few modern updates! As the President of the Dakota Cruisers, I enjoy all of the club members and hearing their stories about their histories and about their cars and their projects. What a wonderful hobby. My wife, Eileen and I enjoy going to the car shows and Rod Runs throughout the year. We look forward to seeing you at a meeting or Run or Show in the not to distant future! HAPPY CRUIS'N GEORGE GEORGE |
